it's november, autumn melted into winter - the days were shorter, leaves in reddish color decorate the streets, and people snuggled into their scarves to escape the cold. the demigods in camp half blood walked around with cups filled with hot chocolate or steaming coffee.

it was an extraordinarily quiet evening. most of the campers left to celebrate thanksgiving with their families, which left you and leo alone in hephaestus cabin. your boyfriend was hunched over a box, trying to find the beamer he tinkered not too long ago, "I swear to gods, I'll cry if we can't watch adventure time today-" you giggled and stood up to help him.

you watched adventure time all night long, laughing and sobbing, relating to the emotions and happenings riddled throughout the show - until you fell asleep. leos arm was squeezed around your waist, and your legs were tangled together. with your face snuggled in the space between his neck and shoulder, you heaved in a deep breath until your lungs were filled with him only. your insides were painted with sunshine and orange blossoms.

once the morning trickled inside the room and your lids flickered, slowly waking up, you caught a glance of your lover in front of you. a feeling mixed between giddy butterflies and absolute peace filled you, and completely unaware, your hand lifted to his hair, brushing through the soft locks. silently, you studied his face lightened by the coldish sunlight through the window. there was a mole under his left eye and one under his lips, a scar on his eyebrow that you trailed with your finger. his skin was paler than in the summer, but his dark circles under his eyes were gone. another scar went from his jawline down his neck. you rested your arm over his shoulder, drawing circles on his upper back, thinking about all the mornings in the future that'll be just like this. a smile started to form on your face.

"I love you so much," you promised, knowing that, although he was sleeping, his soul said it back.

i feel as if im going mad so im going to just put this out here. real quick. movieunleashers starters ramble.

i cant stop thinking about how mudkip broke down in that one scene in "Typomaniac," when Chespin called him mean. for a second he lets his mask slip a little bit and to me he just... acts his age. he starts crying and calls chespin mean back. maybe im just hyperfocusing on this one detail but mudkip is about 12 years old.

and that just makes me wonder what happened in this guys life that brought him to where he is now. and it makes it all the more tragic how his whole world revolves around chespin, but he is the one bringing him the most pain. and how young he was when he died.

there is a large theme of growing up in "Rare Candy." the characters ages are emphasized in that particular episode, and one of the main conflicts is fennekin wanting to evolve faster.

the thing about characters in these stories is that they're not allowed to just be kids, to have a childhood. so many bad things happen to them. like. mudkips whole, Everything. fennekin when she was famous in typomaniac, or dealing with her own insecurities/pressure from society about her relationship w chespin. and chespin always having to shoulder his friends problems & always somehow managing to stay positive despite everything.

why cant they just. play video games. eat ice cream or something. go to the movies

at the end of the day, i think both mudkip and fennekin are characters who grew up too fast. by distancing himself from them, chespin refused to follow in their footsteps and just wanted to stay a kid.

mini falsettos things i noticed (spoilers)

i'm specifically talking about act the 2016 revival & productions post-revival here. i’ve seen act one in the proshot of the original cast & a small production live.

it's a (probably) fairly well-known fact that the set design incorporates more real-life props (e.g. books, plants, beds) the more serious the scene. more real-life props are introduced as the ending nears, and this takes place primarily in act two, with the bed in what more can i say? and whizzer's hospital bed up until jason's bar mitzvah and the ending. but there are some similar references in act one!!

in i’m breaking down, trina uses a real knife, bowl and food.

in marvin at the psychiatrist, mendel uses a clipboard.

during please come to our house / jason’s therapy, trina brings out real food/plates, but they’re dismissed by mendel in favour of his therapy sessions, which don’t really take anything seriously.

and in making a home, just before marvin hits trina (a very serious/not downplayed moment in the musical), trina, mendel and jason all use real props like plants and books to make the home, and the rest of act two takes place there. they’re surrounded by all of the “serious”, real objects during the most serious moments in act one, during father to son, and (to some extent/at a stretch) the games i play. and this happens again in act two.

there is also the recurring chessboard during significant and more serious moments, but i might make a follow-up for the chessboard prop’s significance :)

i stg the more literature i read abt "psychopathy" and aspd that includes subjective experiences (e.g. case studies and detailed interviews) the more i lose faith in psychology as a field. which says a lot bc i barely had any faith to begin with
